Introduction to Sea Kayaking

For first time paddlers and those who have never had any formal instruction. The aim of this class is to give you a good foundation in the knowledge and skills essential for safe and enjoyable paddling. Single kayak, paddle, PFD, spray deck, pump, spray jacket, thermals and course notes are all supplied and included in the cost. We will fit you to the most suitable single kayak in relation to your height and weight.
What you will learn: kayak equipment, kayak design and what to wear, manoeuvring your kayak (forward, reverse, side ways, turning and steering) low support, sculling, edging, a short afternoons paddle, “wet-exits” and recovery from a capsize. Notes are provided on theory such as tides, weather, navigation, group management, safety and trip planning.
Experience includes:
Single kayak with all paddling and safety equipment
1 day of tuition from an experienced guide
Sea kayaking notes booklet and photos of you in action

Available for ages 16 and over.
